For fans, players and executives alike the suspension of the Premier League was a notion so absurd, and seemingly so impossible that the decision to pause the 2019/20 season due to COVID-19 was a devastating blow. With the worst of the global pandemic now passing the Premier League were thrilled to announce the recommencement of the season on the 17th of June, provided that all safety requirements are in place.
The first game of season restart will be Aston Villa v Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in a showdown that will have Sheffield United Football Clubs’ (SUFC) top form on show, albeit behind locked doors. On announcing the season restart Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: "Sadly, matches will have to take place without fans in stadiums, so we are pleased to have come up with a positive solution for supporters to be able to watch all the remaining 92 matches.”
During the season suspension, USG continued to support SUFC and their community to stay connected and ready to go.
